To determine the restoring force per unit extension of a spiral spring by statical and dynamical methods and also to determine the mass of the spring
The Spiral Spring Apparatus is an educational physics laboratory instrument designed to determine the restoring force per unit extension (spring constant) of a spiral spring using both statical and dynamical methods, and to determine the mass of the spring. The apparatus demonstrates Hooke’s law, elastic deformation, and the oscillatory motion of a spring under an applied load.
In the statical method, students measure the extension produced by different applied loads to calculate the restoring force per unit extension. In the dynamical method, the time period of oscillation of the spring-load system is measured to determine the spring constant and estimate the effective mass or mass of the spring using the prescribed experimental procedure.
This apparatus provides practical experience in elasticity, simple harmonic motion, and oscillations. It is suitable for physics laboratories in schools, colleges, universities, and engineering institutions. SPAQ LABS offers educational laboratory equipment for physics practicals, demonstrations, and experimental learning.
Aim : Study the stated oscillatory system and determine the relevant period, frequency, coupling or mechanical parameter.
